Country Profile on Employment and Decent Work - Morocco

The main objective of this profile is to provide policymakers and government officials with an overview of critical issues in the above-mentioned areas, in order to facilitate decision making that contribute to improve employment and productivity prospects in line with Agenda 2030. For this purpose, the first section explains how demographic evolution influence labour. The following sections concentrate on changes in employment, unemployment and participation rates in many places disaggregated by sex, age and educational level to highlight existing heterogeneity of the Moroccan labour market. Crosscutting issues such as output growth, productivity and sector transformation and their link to employment are also addressed in other sections. Lastly, informal employment, public sector employment, child labour and social protection are analysed, as they are a central characteristic of the Moroccan labour market.
